Many people misunderstand or fail to realize the Purpose of Jesus, or more simply put "Why is it necessary to believe in the person of Jesus Christ?"
Jesus is the fulfillment of the
Father's promise spoken in Genesis
3:15b "He will bruise your head, and
you shall bruise His heel." He spoke
this to satan, the initiator of Adam
and Eve's disobedience. Through
disobedience man became separated
from God. Sin always separates! Adam
didn't have a moral right to
disobey, but he had a legal right.
God told Adam in Genesis 1:28 to
replenish, subdue and have dominion
over the earth, in other words, to
rule over the earth. When Adam and
Eve disobeyed God's command and ate
of the fruit of the tree, they
committed high treason and took
another lord, satan. It is evident
that they changed kingdoms as
immediately their eyes were opened
to know good and evil.
For the first time in their lives they were afraid, naked and then hid themselves from God. Then Adam and Eve proceeded to make for themselves a covering of leaves to hide their nakedness. The Father then came calling, "Adam where are you?" He knew what had happened, but wanted to open up a dialogue for man's repentance. However, Adam with his new lord and new nature; a sin, death, and disease oriented nature, refused to accept any responsibility and pointed to his wife as the source of the problem. Adam was the first man to experience a spiritual re-birth, only his was from light to darkness. He took on the nature of satan. This is evident from the display of his actions following his disobedient act that sent the whole human race in a spiral of darkness. Adam in-turn passed this satanic-based nature to his sons through his blood, then they to their sons, etc. It is a proven scientific fact that the blood of the child comes strictly from the father. To illustrate, fresh from the garden Cain murders his brother Able. Question, Where did murder come from? Who taught man to murder? No one, it's now his nature. Just like no one teaches a child to lie, how does he learn this? It's inbuilt through the fallen nature of man. Now back to the story.
At this point God, because He is light could not embrace man. Man is now
dark, and man would have been consumed simply because light consumes
darkness. The whole human race would have been lost. God would have
become a failure, and satan would have usurped God's authority and ruled the
universe with evil. Man was thereby driven from the Garden of Eden
thusly driven from God's presence. Every man has an built-in desire for the
Presence of God. Enter John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he
gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not
perish, but have everlasting life." This is called the plan of salvation,
God's plan to redeem mankind. Now a price must be paid in order to purchase
man and pay for all his misdeeds (sin). A life for a life, blood for blood,
so the payment could not be monetary in nature, but of like kind and nature.
Therefore someone must become the ransom for man. Since all men sin, (the
sin nature, as we learned was passed from father to children) there was no
man found worthy who could become a proper substitute. Hello Jesus! It was
necessary for him to enter this world through the Virgin Mary in order to
bypass the sin nature that would have been passed to Him by a natural
father. He had no earthy father, therefore he had no sin nature passed to
Him. The Holy Spirit moved on Mary as she believed the Word of God from
Gabriel the messenger of God. Now our substitute is in the earth, He then
lived a sinless life, did outstanding miracles, ruled over demons, and
proved Himself worthy to become the Savior of Man! He allowed Himself to be
whipped and bruised for our sickness and died on the cross for our sin. See
1Peter 2:24 He defeated satan and was raised from the dead for our
justification. So that we could now enjoy the fellowship with God that Adam
stole from us in the Garden. Jesus hung between heaven and earth on the
cross to bridge the way for man. Jesus fulfilled the prophecy of Genesis
3:15 when he was raised from the Dead. In Colossians 2:15 The Message
Translations says "He stripped all the spiritual tyrants in the
universe of their sham authority at the Cross and marched them naked through
the streets." Some say, I've never killed anyone, or robbed a bank, I'm not a bad
person. As we've seen, it's not what we've done, but it's about who we belong
to. Being a good person or doing good works is not enough, but a change of
nature is necessary. Jesus in John 3 said "You must be born from above!"
this is the new birth, it is a rebirth of the human spirit. When anyone acts
on Romans 10:9-10 from his heart, he will experience oneness with God that
is impossible otherwise. Religion, good works, saying prayers, reading
scripture, being a 'good person' is not being Born Again. See
